Most of these getting to 2000m for the first time. THE MEAN FIDDLER (4) looks one of the more likely types to relish the trip. He's a son of Highland Reel who bolted in on debut, trying hard behind a well ridden winner at Sandown Lakeside last time in Flying Done, who won here last week, beating OUR CHIEF (3). Our Chief was well backed there but the leader just had it too easy (again) and he had to settle for second. 2000m looks okay for him too. WRIGLEY FIELD (1) started $3 behind Flying Done & The Mean Fiddler at Sandown and just got too far back in the small field there. He should appreciate this trip now. GOLD CHARIOT (9) is still a maiden but has been good in both runs and is bred to stay even further than this. Not discounting. HELIOSON (8) struggled behind Flying Done last time but is another that will relish the extra ground.

Recent form sound. At the latest run came from midfield and won by 1.3 len at Corowa Cl1-Sw December 30 over 1600m defeating King Czar carrying 57.5kg at $4.80. Before that won by 2.25 len at Tatura Mdn-Sw November 22 over 1980m defeating Saxon Blood carrying 58kg at $3.90. This is a lot tougher, place best.
Third-up today. Resuming 3rd of 9 at Cranbourne 3yo Bm70 on December 27 over 1400m, 2 len behind Davida with 56kg at $6. Second run from a spell 2nd in a small field at this track 3yo Bm70 on January 10 over 1600m, 1.75 len behind Flying Done with 56kg at $2.80. Fitter now and making headway. Backs up and should be rock hard fit.
Having third race start. When well in the market at debut, scored a big 5.5 len win at Traralgon Mdn-Sw November 30 over 1430m in heavy going defeating French Gift with 58kg at $3.80. Last start 2nd in a small field at Sandown-Lakeside 3yo Bm70 on December 26 over 1600m, 3 len behind Flying Done carrying 58kg at $3.90. Form through last start has worked out well, go close.
At the latest run 6th of 9 at Mornington Bm62 on January 1 over 1600m, 4.5 len behind Horatius carrying 58.5kg at $6. Before that won by 2.25 len at Mornington Mdn-Sw November 27 over 2050m defeating Grinzinger Tundra carrying 58kg at $2.50. Risking.
Third race start today. When well in the market at debut, ran on from midfield and won by 1.0 len at Tatura Mdn-Sw December 14 over 1600m defeating Style Guide carrying 58kg at $4.40. Last start 4th of 9 at Mornington Bm62 on January 1 over 1600m, 3.5 len behind Horatius carrying 55kg at $21. This will test.
Third-up today. First-up came from midfield; 3rd of 10 at Wangaratta Mdn-Sw on December 22 over 1590m, on a slow track; 4.5 len behind Imponderable carrying 58kg at $3.10. Second-up won by a neck at Wodonga Mdn-Sw January 4 over 2050m defeating Admire Fluke with 58kg at $4.60. Happy to pass.

When well in the market at debut, made significant ground from the rear of the field 2nd of 10 at Geelong 3yo Mdn-Sw on December 12 over 1530m, long-neck behind Storm Leopard carrying 58kg at $5. Second-up crossed from a wide gate to lead but couldn't hold on when 2nd of 13 at Seymour Mdn-Sw on December 28 over 1600m, 1.75 len behind Redwood Lane with 58kg at $1.65. Should improve up in trip and can figure despite being up in grade.
Dual acceptor. Most recently came from midfield; 2nd of 12 at Terang Bm56 on January 2 over 1850m, 0.5 len behind Eddystone with 58.5kg at $13. The run before that ran on from midfield and won by 0.8 len at Horsham Mdn-Sw December 21 over 1800m in soft going defeating Sea Danger with 56kg at $16. Looks tested in this field.
